Prices before promises
Real NHS charges, private price examples and product guides, each source linked and each price dated.

Electric toothbrush comparison tool
Compare before you buy
Four guides that put the price first, with specifications from published reviews and running costs worked out over time.
Start with the question you have

Every price carries its date and its source
We read official pages first, then published price lists, and we say so when two sources disagree.
How we workEvery guide and tool in one place
Each page names its sources and gives the date its prices were checked.
What you can rely on, and what you cannot
Three plain rules for how we write about dental care.
Prices carry the month we checked them
A price without a date is a guess, so every figure says when it was read and where.
Health and legal claims link to their source
NHS pages, the General Dental Council, the Oral Health Foundation and Cochrane reviews come first.
We summarise published data
We have not tested products ourselves. Our guides use published specifications, reviews and price lists.

Know what you will pay before you sit in the chair
Begin with the NHS guide: how to find a dentist, what each band costs and who pays nothing.
NHS dental accessWork out your own numbers
Two tools that run in your browser and use figures you can edit.
Label checker
Enter the strength on a whitening product and see whether UK law allows it on sale.
CostsNHS or private
Tick your treatments and see the NHS charge next to private price examples.
CorrectionsSpotted a wrong price?
Tell us the page and the figure, and we will check the source and fix it.
How every page is built
Four steps, in this order, on every guide.
Start from the official source
NHS and NHS Business Services Authority pages for charges and rules, and research reviews for health claims.
Date every price
Each price notes the month we checked it. Where two sources disagree, we show the range.
Show the sum
Totals such as two-year running costs show their assumptions, and the tools let you change them.
Correct in public
If a reader finds a mistake, we fix the page and note the change. Tell us through the contact page.
